Privacy policy

RK Tutoring is responsible for personal information used to run this service. This policy covers visitors, students and administrators. The service is for university students aged 18 and over; we do not knowingly enrol children.

We collect account and contact details, optional profile photos, booking and materials-access records, external payment references and statuses, support communications, and technical information such as session, device and security logs. Password accounts use stored password hashes. V1 does not collect card details or banking passwords.

Information comes from you, Google if you use its sign-in service, your device, and your tutor. Your tutor may create student and booking records before you register; an invitation connects them to your account. You can browse public pages without an account. Necessary account and contact details are required for private features and bookings; profile photos are optional.

We use information to manage accounts and classes, record payments and refunds, provide materials, send account emails, answer requests and protect the service. Processing relies on performing our agreement with you, legal obligations, legitimate interests such as security, or specific consent where required by POPIA.

Tutors make booking decisions; we do not use automated profiling to decide eligibility. We do not sell personal information. Account messages do not subscribe you to marketing.

Authorised administrators access information needed to run tutoring. Students access their own linked records. Public listings do not reveal student contact details, payment records or private materials. Other participants may see or hear you during a group class.

We use Vercel for hosting, Convex for app data and profile photos, Cloudflare for materials storage and delivery, Resend for account emails, and Google for optional sign-in. WhatsApp and meeting services have their own privacy terms. We may also share information where legally required or necessary to protect lawful rights.

Providers may process information outside South Africa. Transfers must meet POPIA requirements through appropriate safeguards or another permitted legal ground. Contact us for information about relevant destinations and safeguards.

We use cookies and browser storage for sign-in, security and preferences such as appearance and installation reminders. V1 has no advertising cookies or product analytics tracker. You can clear or block storage in your browser, but sign-in may stop working. Our offline screen does not store private classes or materials for offline access. Signing out or uninstalling does not delete records held by RK Tutoring.

We retain information while needed for tutoring, continuing materials access, accounting, disputes or other lawful purposes. We delete or de-identify it when no longer needed. Account closure does not automatically erase records we must lawfully retain.

We use account permissions and restricted file access to protect information, but no system is completely secure. Protect your login details and report suspected misuse. We will give legally required notifications if a security compromise occurs.

Subject to applicable law, you can request access, correction or deletion, object to qualifying processing, or withdraw consent where we rely on it. Update available details in account settings or contact us for other requests. We may verify your identity and explain any lawful limits on a request. You do not need an app account to contact us.

We will update this notice and give appropriate notice of material changes. Before introducing in-app payments, we will explain any new provider and data use. Our Terms and conditions cover bookings and use of the service.
